Sometimes my days go by and I really can't tell with what. But...I have had none moment of boredom. I read, i write, i think, i walk, i go on my bike, i cook, bake, pay phone-calls to some friends and it really sometimes makes me wonder how on earth I ever managed to have a working life and still do all these things!
Nowadays the Internet plays an import role in my life.
This summer I decided I needed more of a social life, cause that is one of the things I neglected in my "working life". I was so happy when the weekend- read sunday!- was there, that my husband and I really loved being on ourselves and the last 15 years of our working life we lived about 1,5 hour drive away from most of our friends.
Now, for people living in the States, that must seem "peanuts", but for the majority of the "dutchies" it means almost "passing the border". One hour longer in the car and you are in either Belgium or Germany. So the comment we usually got was " but you live so far away"....
Right now I live in the middle of this tiny country and I can see most of my siblings and friends within a 1,5 hour drive, which I don't mind, now that I live alone, on my own, and have all the time in the world.
I started being a member of "50plusnet" with the hope that through that I would find some friends in my closer neighbourhood.
Well, the result so far is : a club of women who try to meet each other once a month.
I had a nice dinner with them, followed by watching a movie called :"das leben der Anderen"; a beautifully made movie of what it was like to live in Eastern Germany, among the "Stasi's".
Next thursday-evening I hope to have a "singing-night" with those women-friends. Whatever that may mean. I'll keep you posted!
Last sunday I went to another club , called "koffie-filosofie-club". The idea is to talk about the things in life while drinking a cup of coffee. Like : what is your first thought when you hear the word "space", and then somebody starts and others "follow".
Apart from these real meetings, I have in the meantime awhole circle of "virtual friends", and when I had my birthday I found a whole chain of birthdaywishes in my e-mailbox! Now how about that!!
And as if it isn't enough yet: I started myself a "museum-club". Within a week 9 members joined and on the 4th of october we'll meet in the Centraal Museum Utrecht and after that we'll visit some houses of architectural interest, designed by Rietveld/ Schroeder.
Are you still there??? Is it getting boring to read about all these "internet-fruits"?
I can assure you when virtuality becomes reality it is soooooo very exciting.
You should try it!
Dag,dag,
the horse-rider.

Hoi Carla, dit is de link naar de bibliotheken. Hij laadt langzaam omdat er zoveel foto's opstaan, dus even geduld maar dan heb je ook wat :)
