Hi everyone,
A few more weeks to go and the year 2007 will be gone...
I can still remember how we were all waiting for the new millennium to start in the year 2000!
My husband and I had just bought a house in the Provence, the south of France, the television had been, only just!, connected and Pieter started watching the tv already early in the morning.
Cameras were all over the world to show us how all the nations were transcending into the new century and they started to show us the people who lived at the "antipode". Pieter was kind of in touch again with "his" New Zealand" where people were celebrating, dancing, singing and drinking in the sunshine, while we, in the south of France, had problems keeping ourselves warm, with the warmth of a big open fire and heaters who didn't " work".
That same year our son Pieter B. and daughter in law Nishat, came to visit us. It was early April, it hadn't quite warmed up yet and ...Nishat appeared to be very allergic to the trees that were everywhere in our neighbourhood, especially the "platanes". So off they went to the French coast- the riviera- and my husband and I cried ourselves asleep. So far for "having the children visit us", but no one was to blame , it simply couldn't be helped.
At the fall we made up for that and accepted the invitation to come to Bergen NJ, to celebrate Thanksgiving with each other.
In the meantime our d.i.l. had become pregnant and was about 7 month pregnant. The pregnancy wasn't easy and so was the birth from Isabella, who was born on the 27th of January 2001, our weddingday. A very memorable date.
Unfortunately Pieter never came to see this lovely baby-girl and the night after our son had e-mailed a coloured fotograph of Isabella when she was about 6,5 month old, his hart stopped beating and that was the end of his life.
Life goes on, and in the meantime there is Alec, lovely boy and brother of Isabella. I do miss them a lot and am very happy with every picture my son and d.i.l do send me.
I'm a proud grandmother and therefore will try to put a picture of them with this post, to share the pride , at least a smile!- with you.
Till next time.
Dag,dag,
the horserider
