Here in Holland , we do have 2 Christmas-days.
On the 1st one, people usually meet with their siblings, their family and on the 2nd day many people go to the "furniture-boulevards"! , where you will find "Ikea", "seats and sofa's" and more of that stuff! Can you believe it? And if you don't want to have the fuss of serving a nice Christmas-dinner at your home, the restaurants really have one of their busiest day of the year. Food, food, and food again...
This year I decided to invite some-one on the 1st C.day, and it turned out to be a very happy day. We talked, enjoyed each others company, went for a walk in the forest, very close to where I live, paid a visit to an other family-member- and the hours went too fast. The "new start" of an "old relationship" that seemed to have "died", but was "brought to life" again, this day...
Today, the 2nd day, I had decided to join an group who was going to have a 10 km. walk and afterwards enjoy a meal together in a cosy restaurant nearby.
Such an nice experience this was too.
I joined these "walkers" about two years ago, more or less at the same time of the year, around these Christmas-days. It was one of my first "internet-experiences" and it really turns out to be one of the nicest things I've ever done through the internet.
You get a program by e-mail , you subscribe if you think there's a walk you like and on the day itself you meet each other without knowing each other. Very exciting!
And right now my thoughts go back to these C.days of 2 years ago, when I felt so lonely and miserable... with my children and grandchildren so far away, on this specific family-day.
That's why it feels so good to have been able to "cope" with these these days in a very pleasant way. And not only that, but really have enjoyed everything I did.
And I hope I made other people around me a little bit happy too, maybe even peaceful?
It has been truly Christmas.
Peace for all of you.
Dag,dag,
the horserider
