......that pass in the night

Yesterday I heard on the news about the death of Sir Edmund Hillary.

And my mind went back, years and years ago when me and my family happened to be aboard the same airplane on a flight "back home ", from one of our stays in New Zealand.
It was definitely him. Of huge build- in my eyes!- and with a very kind face. And a sort of humble shyness, that's how I remember him.
Isn't this funny, how just one "meeting", and even that is not the right word, encounter? makes an impression for life, in that way that, whenever he was "in the news", i payed a little more attention to what was said, than I would normally have done.

An other "coincidence" is, that it seems to have made an impact on my son too, who was then at the age of ?14?.
I just went to look at his blog, my son's that is, - and I couldn't believe my eyes that he wrote about the deceased Sir Edmund Hillary. That he has these, more or less, same memories of this great man. Cause a great man he was, as you can see if you take the effort to go to my son's blog where you can read about all these "things" Sir Edmund did for "the world", at least for a specific part of the world.

If you go to this blog,- www.indigored.com- you can see also how an other "little man" is growing and getting bigger in his "world of exploration".
My grandson Alec seems to follow into the footsteps of his bigger sister Isabella, with these artistic inspirations. I love it, to see how this little man can make already such beautiful things.
I envy these kids for these qualities. I know, there are far more other qualities that seem more important in our human lives, but still. It seems so simple to "do what you believe in and/or use the tools you have been given"...

Isn't that what the same Sir Edmund Hillary showed us too?
A wonderful man has gone.
